Topsail Dental is focused on staying current with the latest technology. Our team is CPR certified and attends annual training to ensure we are OSHA compliant. We complete the mandated annual continuing education courses needed for all licensed team members. Our doctors are also members of local dental study clubs and all staff members attend applicable sessions and obtain additional training pertinent to their job responsibilities.

MEET THE OWNER

DR. STEVE OLMSTEAD

As a native to the area, Dr. Olmstead is honored to serve the Hampstead, Topsail, and surrounding communities. He graduated locally from Topsail High School and received a Bachelor Degree in Biology from UNC-Wilmington in 2006. Dr. Olmstead is a graduate of East Carolina University- School of Dental Medicine. He became the proud owner of Topsail Dental in 2016, and since then has become one of the most trusted dentist in the area.

Dr. Olmstead received a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Dr. Olmstead is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the North Carolina Dental Society. He participates in the Cape Fear Dental Study Club and is committed to continuing education and the pursuit of excellence in the oral healthcare that he provides.

Outside of Dentistry - Dr. Olmstead enjoys spending time with his family and friends and participating in the many outdoor activities that this area has to offer, especially surfing & Jiu Jitsu!

MEET

DR. ASANI

Dr. Alexandra Palamaru (Dr. Asani) was born and raised in Eastern Europe, Romania. Along with her family, she moved to the United States when she was 10 years old. Her childhood and adult life was spent in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she went to college and dental school, graduating from The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Dr. Asani has wanted to be a dentist since she was very young and loves every aspect of dentistry. From the initial patient interaction and getting to know patients personally to designing new smiles using veneers/crowns. Dr. Asani especially loves working with and treating pediatric patients. Dr. Asani has been certified through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics in the treatment of Orofacial Pain, Migraines/Headaches, Grinding/Bruxism using Botox/Xeomin Therapy.

Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras are used by dentists to show a patient theinterior of their mouth as an alternative to using a mirror.These magnified digital photos allow the patient to see a clearpicture of the inside of their mouth, aiding the dentist inconsulting with them on various treatment options. Images canbe saved to a patient’s file for future reference.

Digital Radiography
Our Team uses digital dental radiographs (digital x-rays) to better detect, diagnose, treat and monitor oral conditions and diseases. Digital x-rays are more comfortable for our patient and reduces radiation exposure by 80%. Digital radiography also eliminates the need for film that involves chemical processing and disposable hazardous chemicals, which in turn presents a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional dental x-rays. Patients are able to view images of the computer or tv screen with the doctor, giving them a clearer understanding about their dental needs and treatment options.

Cloud Based Dental Software
Here at Topsail Dental we use a modern, cloud- based dental practice management software called Dentrix Ascend. This unified software combines operational, business, and clinical needs. This technology helps run the practice efficiently and productively while being HIPAA secured.

3D Imaging
At Topsail Dental we utilize the latest technology, with our Care stream Dental x-ray and cone beam 3D imaging.3D imaging is a relatively new development that allows dentist to see a clear, detailed, three dimensional image of your teeth, bones and soft tissue. This 3Dtechnology is particularly helpful for the following:-Accurate placement of implants-Determining if a root canal is your best treatment option-Planning for extractions; especially impacted teeth
-Evaluation of your sinuses -Sleep Apnea -Fractures
-Diagnosing TMJ issues

3D Printer
Oral surgeries need to be very precise, and dental 3D printing has made precision easy. A 3D printed guide designed to fitperfectly in a patient’s mouth is an indispensable asset for a dentist.They simply scan the patient’s mouth and design a model similar to an aligner, but with openings exactly where surgery is being done.They can be printed in the same resin as aligners and night guards, and they can be created quickly on any dental 3D printer.
